1. Introduction

Seedlit ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our journaling application ("the App").

By using Seedlit, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

User Content:

  • Journal Entries: Text content, rich text formatting, and any content you write
  • Mood Selections: Daily mood indicators (good, bad, indifferent)
  • Tags: Optional tags you create to organize entries
  • Preferences: App settings and preferences (font size, theme, etc.)

Device Information:

  • Device type and iOS version (for app functionality)
  • An anonymous device identifier for analytics (not linked to your identity)

Anonymous Usage Data:

  • App opens, screen views, and feature usage (e.g., which onboarding pages are viewed)
  • Aggregated interaction data (e.g., mood selections, plant health scores, streak counts)
  • Onboarding responses (e.g., age range, journaling reasons)

This data is collected anonymously and is never linked to your journal content. We cannot identify you personally from this data.

3. How We Store Your Information

Local Storage:

All your journal entries and app data are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

iCloud Sync (Optional):

If you are signed into iCloud, Seedlit may sync your journal entries across your devices using Apple's CloudKit service. This sync is encrypted by Apple and only syncs between devices signed into the same iCloud account.

On-Device Backups:

Seedlit automatically creates encrypted backups on your device. These backups are stored locally only and are automatically rotated (we keep the last 7 backups).

Analytics Data:

Anonymous usage data is sent to PostHog's servers in the United States. This data contains no journal content or personal information. See Section 5 for details.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:

  • Display your entries in the app interface
  • Show entries and moods on the calendar
  • Visualize your journaling streak and plant health
  • Allow you to export your entries
  • Understand how users interact with the app so we can improve it

We do not:

  • Read, analyze, or process the content of your journal entries
  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Use your data for advertising
  • Share your data with third parties except as required by law

5. Third-Party Services

Seedlit uses the following Apple-provided services:

  • Speech Recognition: For voice-to-text dictation (optional)
  • Face ID / Touch ID: For app lock security (optional)
  • CloudKit: For syncing across devices (if iCloud enabled)

These services are subject to Apple's privacy policies.

Analytics:

Seedlit uses PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous usage data. This helps us understand how features are used and improve the app. PostHog receives:

  • Anonymous interaction events (screen views, button taps, feature usage)
  • Anonymized session recordings (all text inputs and images are automatically masked)
  • An anonymous device identifier

PostHog does not receive your journal entries, personal information, or any content you write. We do not use advertising networks, cross-app tracking, or share data with advertisers.

6. Data Security

We take data security seriously:

  • Your data is protected by iOS data protection, which encrypts data at rest
  • Optional app lock adds an additional layer of security
  • Your journal entries are never transmitted over the network unless you explicitly export them or use iCloud sync. Anonymous analytics data is transmitted separately and contains no journal content.
  • Automatic on-device backups help protect against data loss

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have complete control over your data:

  • View Your Data: All entries are accessible within the app
  • Export Your Data: Export all entries at any time in JSON or Markdown format
  • Delete Your Data: Delete individual entries or all data by deleting the app
  • Manage Backups: View, export, or delete on-device backups in Settings

You can control app permissions through iOS Settings.

8. Children's Privacy

Seedlit is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
